Council Member Carol Altrichter on Tires Being Slashed: "It’s not true"

On November 2, 2018, Central Minnesota News Network called council member Carol Altrichter regarding occurrences in the city. Here are her responses.

RENTAL ORDINANCE NOT OVER REGULATED

When asked it was acceptable that the city of Stewart has a rental policy that is more restrictive than the city of Minneapolis, she said, "Yes that's fine with me, as long as it brings the quality of rental properties up."

COMMENT ON PENDING CHARGES OF STEWART RESIDENT FOR ZONING VIOLATIONS

Altrichter refused to provide comment on the criminal charges that have been filed on Stewart resident Delvin Bethke regarding zoning violations.

COMMENT ON SLASHING OF TIRES

When asked if Altrichter had heard about the slashing of tires going on in the city, she said, "It's not true. It's been said about town that someone was starting rumors."  When asked if she disagreed that tires had been slashed, Carol Altrichter said, "I don't know that anyone slashed tires."  When asked if a city official had done it, Altrichter said, "Not from the city, absolutely not."  Altrichter said that she was told that the sheriff refused to take a police report. Delvin Bethke, whose tires were slashed, said that the police took reports for both the lawnmower and truck.

Here are pictures of tires slashed on the truck and lawnmower owned by Stewart resident Delvin Bethke.
